Does Jelqing Work?

Many people, especially researchers and women (allegedly), say that penis size does not matter. Well, it does, no matter what they say. Also, there is nothing wrong in dreaming of and achieving a well-endowed penis.

Improving the length and girth of your penis has a lot of plus points. It can obviously make you more capable of providing satisfying sex. It can boost your self-confidence and remove any insecurity you may have with your magic stick.

But why do most people frown upon penile enhancement? First of all, many frauds take advantage of men who wishes for for penile enhancement. Having a longer penis is always a good thing (unless you are already sporting a 10” schlong). Multitudes of products, most unproven to work, have been created to “allow” men to achieve their desired length. These can cost a lot of money and often offer mediocre to non-existent results.

The second reason is that most of those products and penile surgical procedures are not completely safe. For example, few of the side effects of penis enlargement surgeries include erectile dysfunction, reduced sensitivity, infections, and nerve damage.

So, is there no way to achieve a godlike penis? Of course, there is. And that is through penis enlargement exercises, which include jelqing. But does it really work?

What Is Jelqing?

For a detailed guide on how to jelq, click here.

Jelqing is the most natural way you can increase your penis’ size. To jelq, you need to stroke and squeeze your penis. The action will force blood flow and stretch your penis, which will then increase its length and girth.

jelqing exerciseAt first, it sounds like masturbating. However, there is a bit of technique and form involved in this exercise — compared to just whacking your member until it ejaculates.

When jelqing, you need to form an “okay” sign (forming a circle with your thumb and index finger). Then, apply pressure on your junk and stroke upward: imagine milking a cow. Expect that this action will generate a tolerable amount of pain.

Scientific Studies and Research On Its Effectiveness

Despite receiving massive praises and positive testimonials about the effects of jelqing, no substantial scientific study and research has been conducted about it. It is unfortunate that penile-extending devices are given priority although reliable scientific inquiries can be truly scarce — most are just marketing ploys under the guise of in-house research.

Multiple reasons can be attributed to explain this issue:

Penile enhancement is a niche market and is not a priority of scientific bodies. It is a painful truth. PE is a topic you cannot even discuss with your peers openly.

  1. Jelqing is not profitable. It is a simple exercise you cannot sell. It is not as complicated as Pilates and the only product you can use to make it effective is a lubricant.
  2. Positive results can be destructive to the penile enhancement industry. Despite being a niche, penile enhancement product manufacturers are profiting greatly from the PE (Penis Enhancement) market. If jelqing proves to be an effective method of improving penis measurements, customers and leads may stop and even not consider buying PE products. After all, jelqing is an exercise you can do without buying anything.
  3. Most ailments that jelqing might cure already have a much safer remedy. Most studies are driven by the cause of improving human healthcare. And since jelqing’s only prime benefit is not exactly within healthcare’s scope, it will take time before the scientific and healthcare community takes notice of it.
  4. PE users that track their results always use more than one method. Similar to working out at the gym, you wouldn’t do just one exercise for several months. Jelqing is often an additive activity to the use of penis pumps and extenders.

Jelq Safety

Before you stretch your penis, it is crucial to warm up first. No, no, no. I am not talking about watching porn or anything to get you hot. Just stretch your penis gently, but avoid getting aroused — this part is important.

You must perform jelqing on a semi-flaccid penis. Jelqing while it is erect can cause more pain. Also, it will render no positive effect; it might also reverse your current effort and even decrease your penis size.

When applying pressure, make sure that doing so does not hurt you. Just use the right amount until your penis feels choked. To make jelqing comfortable and to prevent your penis from having rashes, you can use a lubricant. However, note that the addition of lubricant may encourage erection, so be mindful of the amount you will put. There are lubricants made for jelqing, but you can settle for baby oil or Vaseline if you have them on hand — that way, you don’t have to spend on anything.

Common Jelqing Mistakes

Make sure that you avoid the following to prevent injuries and achieve the exercise’s full effects:

  1. Do not involve the glans or penis tip in the process.
  2. Do not turn it into a masturbation session or ejaculate.
  3. Do not start or continue jelqing if your penis has gotten darker or purplish.

Jelqing Exercise: Quick Guide

Jelqing Routine

During your first month, it is recommended that you jelq two to three times a week. The amount of time you should jelq in a day is around 20 to 25 minutes. Spend five minutes warming up, another five minutes to stretch, and then jelq for 10 minutes or perform at least 20 strokes. Once you are done, cool down your penis for five minutes.

An alternative is to jelq four to five times a week, 10 to 15 minutes a day. On the other hand, if you are going to use penis pumps or extenders, be sure to apply great care when jelqing and do it as a cooling down exercise when you are finished with your penis-enhancing device.

Read our complete routine table on the main guide page.

In the long run, jelqing should not cause any unbearable pain and bruises if you do it right. Rashes can be considered normal if you are dry jelqing, but it is recommended that you use lubrication to prevent any further problems and let you jelq and use your penis normally. And finally, your penis should increase a millimeter or two in the first and second months.

Results

Yes, it is true that the result is not as good as you might have hoped. However, do remember that jelqing is a natural method and is considered as an exercise. We do not live in a world where you can go to the gym for a month or two and expect your body to become ripped.

However, jelqing comes with other benefits that you would want to have. Some of them are:

  1. Improved stamina during intercourse
  2. Extended sexual endurance
  3. Stiffer erections

Personal Test

Due to the lack of studies, most of the information here was taken from personal experiences, expert advice, testimonials, and even possible hearsays. So, to justify and quantify the information written here, I will perform a personal test. And I encourage you to do the same test I have done. After all, there is nothing to lose, but lots to gain — possibly.

To produce a pristine result, I will create a controlled environment and remove all variables that might spoil the jelqing experiment. Basically, this means that my penis will be reserved for a set of time to jelqing purposes only.

I will not use my penis for sex and masturbation. I will also stop taking any supplement and using any penile enhancement devices. This test/experiment will be two months long.

I will perform this test in a location with a mild climate and stable temperatures to prevent homeostasis from ruining the measurements.

Background

I am a middle-aged Caucasian male. I have a healthy lifestyle and sex life. Also, I have not experienced any serious diseases aside from the regular cold and flu. I am an occasional drinker and smoker.

When it comes to penile enhancements, I have used extenders for almost three years. I only take supplements and change my penile enhancement devices for reviewing purposes. A month before this test, I stopped using any extending product to eliminate temporary effects of the device I have used.

Test Specifics

To measure the improvements, I will use bone pressed measurement. I will stick with a five-day routine (rest days on Mondays and Wednesdays) and do 20-minute jelq sessions (5 minutes warm-up, 10 minutes jelqing, 5 minutes cooldown). The technique I will use is the basic one: “okay” hand form and basic up-and-down stroke.

Conclusion

Jelqing does provide positive results. In two months, I experienced 12mm or 0.48” (half an inch) growth. However, compared to using penis enhancement devices, this can be seen as mediocre. Nonetheless, it still gives out something tangible.

The next question to answer now is if this is a permanent or temporary gain. I am leaning on the latter. After all, even with PE devices, I still jelq. And the permanent gain I have is only a small percentage of the original girth and length I had before I started working on my penis.

Want to know if masturbating before or after workout sessions affects gains?

You need to maintain a 60 to 80% erection for jelqing. So if you can achieve that after masturbating, then I do not see a reason why it may hinder your gains. As for after your workout, it wouldn’t matter.

Why is it not recommended that you use your penis for masturbation or sex during the jelqing routine? Does ejaculation (cumming) lessen or undo the benefits of jelqing?

Jelqing fully erect can be dangerous because of excessive pressure on the penis. And the stretching won’t provide benefits since the penis is hard and does not stretch any further.

I gained 1.6″ in length and 0.5″ in girth in 8 months. Don’t give up. You just need patience. Jelqing isn’t a sprint, it’s a marathon.

Well, I haven’t stopped doing PE yet. Still working on my girth. But I heard from other people that when you stop you can lose a little because of the healing of your penis tissue. So if you want your gains to be permanent, you should still do PE from time to time.
